About the School
Ashby School is a mixed comprehensive (14 - 19) upper school with dual Specialist Schools status.
Previously known as Ashby Grammar School (formed from an amalgamation of the Boys' and Girls' Grammar Schools in 1972), it has a long and proud tradition which can be traced back to 1567 when a Boys' School was founded in Ashby. The school's Boarding House is directly descended from the original boys' school.

Ashby School is a Specialist Languages and Technology College – one of just a handful of schools in the country to be awarded specialisms in two areas. The Specialist Schools programme is designed to raise standards, cultivate new approaches to teaching and learning, and contribute to developments in the local community.
As a school with Technology College status, Ashby students are at the forefront of the information, communication and technological revolution. As a Specialist Languages College, the school is committed to developing a wide and growing range of language opportunities for students.

The school, which occupies a split site, has successfully kept pace with rapid changes in education. Ongoing investment and an extensive building programme have resulted in new Science laboratories, Modern Foreign Language teaching accommodation, a purpose-built Arts Centre, an all-weather sports pitch, and improved dining facilities.
There is also excellent IT provision across all subject areas, as well as a Library/ Resource Centre, Lecture Theatre/ Drama Studio, Sports Hall, and two large sports fields.
Ashby School serves a wide catchment area within North West Leicestershire. There are currently about 1,600 students on roll, of whom more than 550 are in post-16 education.
