Standing at the side of Ashby School for over 400 years, School House is home to 49 boys from all over the world.
They study at the Ivanhoe and Ashby School to find a stable and rewarding education.
We are a comfortable and ancient establishment situated between the school, the parish church and the ruined castle of Ashby de la Zouch. For over four centuries we have offered boarders the chance to find comfortable and friendly residential education in handsome surroundings and with the facilities of a large and very well-equipped school.
The sports hall and swimming pool of the school lie directly across the lawn from our dining room. The House is surrounded with the full range of sporting, cultural and social resources offered by Ashby School. All boys have full IT and internet access every day. The market town of Ashby lies some 500 yards distance from School House on the other side of the churchyard.
Since 1567 boys have come to School House looking for a secure and comfortable environment in which to pursue their studies. School House is very comfortably furnished and offers a standard of care and accommodation which is high. Our aim is to discover the best aspects of boys resident here and to work with them to ensure they leave School House well prepared for the challenges of life beyond school and as well qualified as possible.
Admission to School House is by interview not examination. Boys must be either British Citizens or Citizens of the European Union. They will come to join a happy and close-knit family living in an attractive Georgian house at the side of this ancient market town.

Boarders enjoy a full range of educational, cultural and sporting programmes. Transport may be provided from airports and railway stations and parents receive termly reports on their son's progress. Thus, at School House we attempt to combine the best of tradition with the newest of technology and science. The result is that we live in a civilised house with interesting people.
The House is small enough to cater for a wide variety of individual needs. We are also able to offer extra tuition for students with particular academic requirements (from remedial teaching to Oxbridge entrance). Students may choose from an extensive range of GCSE courses and 26 Advanced Level courses.
We are situated some 7 miles from the M1 motorway at the side of the A(M)42. Birmingham Airport is 40 minutes away, Heathrow Airport is 2 ½ hours away and East Midlands Airport at Castle Donington is 7 miles distant. The local railway stations are Leicester, Loughborough and Derby. These can be reached from St Pancras, London on an hourly train from platform 3.
