External shot of new Boarding house at Ashby School

“Coming here, I feel that I have had a better chance at a decent education...I am happy at school and am properly motivated to do my best and achieve well”  - Year 10 student

A State boarding school is a rare thing but Ashby School provides boarders with a first class education.  For over four centuries, boys have come to find education in Ashby, a small and traditional market town in the Heart of England and in the National Forest.

The Georgian boarding residence is nestled between the 15th Century Parish Church and the ruins of Ashby Castle.  It is home to 75 boys from all over the world from ages 11 to 19 years.

Parents and boys are attracted here for a variety of reasons.  Some are delighted with the unique setting, others seek to apply because they wish to experience the security and comfort of a family environment while receiving an excellent education.  Whatever the reasons, the success of the boarding residence is certainly a significant factor.  It has been classified as “Outstanding” and an “Excellent” boarding facility by Ofsted and the Commission for Social Care Inspection.  Successful examination results, particularly amongst the boarders, in a wide variety of subjects are always a very significant factor when choosing to board at School House.

The most significant factor which makes School House so special and so very sought after is the boys themselves.  They exemplify and determine the strengths and values of this ancient place.  They are positive, they are hard working, they are cheerful and they want to be here.  They can see the value of living in a community of boys at the heart of England.

School House - Boarding at Ashby School

“The boarding provision at School House is quiteunique and of the highest quality. Students regard it as home”  - Ofsted
