“Boys present as really caring about each other and their house, which reflects how well they are cared for themselves.” – Ofsted
All staff in School House are involved in providing the emotional support and friendship so important to the successful development of young people. An unusual and hugely important feature of School House life is that all pastoral staff work only here and have no teaching commitments in school. Their only task is to see the boarders prosper and achieve.
The atmosphere is relaxed and happy with a very good mixture of social, cultural and academic contributions from all who come to reside here. Staff at School House work closely with the boys and encourage them to recognise their own personal strengths. It is their aim to discover the best aspects of the boys and to work with them to ensure they leave School House well prepared for the challenges of life beyond school and as well qualified as possible.
The food is a particular strength. It is plentiful and good and everyone eats together. Meals are prepared by School House’s own catering staff and taken together in our very attractive Dining Room which is a vitally important centre of the life of any family.
Inspectors have commended the family atmosphere of the boarding residence and the close personal relationships and support which are engendered here. Ofsted has classified School House as “Outstanding”, stating “The atmosphere in the house is extremely positive and reflects the care and support provided…. Boarders benefit from an excellent level of individual support provided by all boarding staff. This is a particular strength in School House”.
