Library

The Library, Resources and Reprographics departments are situated in ‘C’ Block beside the Lecture Theatre.

To access the library catalogue using the eclipse.net integrated library management system, click here. 

Using eclipse.net, library users can access a full list of library resources, including books and evaluated websites, from any networked computer.

 

Opening Times

Library 8am – 4pm
Resources – 9am – 2.15pm
Reprographics – 8.30am – 4pm

The Library is open to students from all years during morning and lunchtime break.

The Library is managed by Mrs Setterington.

There are 10,000 items in the Library, including:

  • Fiction and non-fiction, graphic novels and quick reads;
  • 'The Essential Collection', such as subject encyclopaedias, dictionaries and atlases;
  • DVDS for Sixth Form and staff on overnight loan;
  • 20 laptop computers and tablets;
  • space for study and leisure reading;
  • Sixth Form Short Loan Collection;
  • Newspapers and magazines
  • A selection of online resources, including Philip Allan magazines online archive, Credo, History Study Centre and Science Reference Centre. These can all be accessed through the library page on RealSmart.

Year 10 and 11 can borrow up to six books for three weeks. 

Year 12 and 13 can borrow up to 10 books for three weeks. Books can be renewed after this time.

Resources

The Resources room is situated between the Library and the Reprographics room and is the base for all of the school’s resource equipment:

  • Digital cameras
  • DV camcorders
  • Tripods
  • Card readers
  • Notice boards
  • CDs/ DVDs

These can all be borrowed for use during lessons for recording information, displaying students’ work and photographing work.

All equipment must be signed for and returned on the same day in the same condition in which it was borrowed and by the student who signed it out.

There is a facility for copying from DVD to DVD, and camcorder to DVD. There is also an editing computer available for editing video clips.

Reprographics Department

The Reprographics department helps students – and staff - to produce well-presented documents and projects of a professional quality.

Reprographics staff are always happy to offer guidance and support to help produce work of the highest possible standard.

Where:  Reprographics is located at the back of the library, via the Resources office, or the main corridor leading to the Design faculty.

Printing materials:  Various weights of card and paper are available in a wide range of colours, textures and patterns. Acetates and tracing paper are available, too.

Decorative materials:   Paper and card from the latest selection of decorative and backing papers will help students’ work to stand out. Prices are very competitive.
