Every year, Ashby School raises thousands of pounds for charity.
In 2015 - 6, students raised more than £6,780 through House and charity events. (Every student is a member of one of eight Houses, competing each year to collect the most money for charity.)
House fund-raisers can vary widely from small sponsored events, such as cake sales and quizzes, to the school Aquathon, in which students take on a gruelling physical challenge to collect House points and sponsorship money.
Whole-school charity events also take place throughout the year. These include non-uniform days, which are usually held once a term, in aid of varying good causes. Students donate £1 to charity for the privilege of coming to school in casual clothes, or dressing in a themed outfit related to the charity.
Ashby School students traditionally show their consideration for others by escorting special needs pupils from other schools around the town’s annual Statutes street fair.
The school also hosts an afternoon of free festive entertainment for Ashby's older residents in December.
