The School Council meets almost every month.
In 2016 - 17, council members have discussed ideas to improve students' school experience.
Councillors' suggestions were put to the whole school in a vote to gauge student opinion on the issues that were most important to them.
Senior leaders considered the proposals which received the most student support.
- Outdoor hard play area with seating
- Possibility of vending machines
- Opening up of gardens
- Possibility of more card top-up machines
Meetings have already taken place with staff in charge of catering, school funds and premises.
Head boy Ben Hughes, who is chair of the School Council, is now finalising an interactive survey to discover in more depth what students want from the new hard play area.
The council also will organise the final non-uniform day of the year during summer term. Students will help to decide which charities benefit from the money raised and help to organise additional fun activities at break and lunch times.
There is also a presentation being circulated to forms based on current government and world politics. This is in line with a target set by the head boy and head girl to increase awareness on these issues.
Year 11 students will also be working on some of the A block gardens alongside catering manager Nicola Wright in an effort to grow flowers and produce.
