Health and Safety Committee
March 2007
Ashby school recently carried out the annual review of its Health and Safety policy. The completed annual return, which was sent to the Local Authority, revealed no outstanding Health and Safety issues. All equipment was checked as part of the review.
One of the many areas in which the school has an outstanding record is the health and safety of its swimming facilities where the water is checked daily by premises staff. The Local Authority and North West Leicestershire District Council carry out spot checks of both the pool surroundings and the water.
Five staff have retaken and passed their minibus competency test. All staff who drive the minibus must be retested every three years.
Two members of staff have also carried out residential leadership training, while two Year Tutors have completed training in Restraint and Positive Handling.
Two First Aid trainers have updated their qualifications.
