Ashby School is Champion NCS School Again
08 Dec 2017
Ashby School has been named a Champion School by the National Citizen Service for the second consecutive year.
Teacher Peter Jones, of Ashby School, was presented with the award 'in recognition of outstanding NCS engagement' at a ceremony at the King Power Stadium in Leicester.
Mr Jones said: "This is the second year running that we have been named a Champion School. We were chosen because of the uptake of students taking the summer courses but also because of the assemblies we ran for Year 11 students and the fact we allowed NCS representatives to lead some of our PSD (personal and social development) sessions (see picture above).
"It is great to get such fantastic recognition for the high level of support we give to the NCS programme."
NCS is a government-funded scheme which runs for three - four weeks and enables young people aged 15 - 17 to develop vital skills and confidence for life.
