It's All Gone Downhill! Skiers and Snowboarders Take to the Slopes
13 Dec 2017
Training has begun for next year's ski trip to the USA, which takes place during February half term.
More than 50 students, including both skiers and snowboarders, will fly to Boston to spend a week at the resort of Cannon and Loon in New Hampshire.
To prepare, they are now practising every Friday after school on the slopes of the Ski and Snowboard Centre at Swadlincote. Some have never skied before.
At the end of the trip, students will spend a night in New York before flying home.
Teacher Ben Clarke, who will accompany the students, said: "At Ashby School, we believe in giving students opportunities not just to excel academically but to broaden their horizons, develop new skills and mix with different people. This trip is a fantastic opportunity for students to explore a whole new environment with new people and to take a little bit of that Ashby School ethos with them."
