05 Feb 2018
Year 11 students have been putting their teamworking skills to the test, during a series of lessons run by representatives from NCS (National Citizen Service).
In 2017, Ashby School was named a Champion School by NCS, for its high rates of student engagement in the programme.
NCS is a government-funded initiative which encourages 15-17-year-olds to engage in 'adventure, discovery and action' during their summer holiday.
The four-week programme includes a week of outdoor activity followed by a week in a university-style setting and concludes with two weeks of community action, supporting a project of the young people's choice.
Since Christmas, Year 11 students have been given a taste of NCS activities during their PSD (Personal and Social Development) lessons. taking on team challenges.
Teacher Peter Jones said: "NCS is a great opportunity for young people to build skills for work and life and to have a brilliant summer, in the process."
