Ashby School's motto
Ashby School has two mottos, dating back to the days when the site housed both a girls' and a boys' school.
The girls' school motto was 'In Veritate Victoria' while the boys' school motto was 'I byde my time'.
'In Veritate Victoria' translates as 'Victory Lies in the Truth'.
Headteacher Mrs Vivien Keller-Garnett said: "This motto remains relevant to this day. Getting to the truth - or heart - of issues is at the core of a successful education. At Ashby School, students are encouraged to get the most out of their education by working hard to reach their full potential - and, therefore, be victorious."
'In Veritate Victoria' was also the motto of Ashby's well known Hastings family.
'I Byde my Time' was the motto of the Loudoun family.
The Loudoun and Hastings families each gave their name to one of Ashby School's six Houses.
