Curriculum Years 12 & 13
The school runs a two-week timetable, divided into 40 lessons of one hour, fifteen minutes each. Fifteen minutes are set aside each day for tutorial/registration times, which may include assembly.
All students must select a curriculum of A level or Level 3 equivalent qualifications. Most students study three subjects throughout Years 12 and 13; students may study four subjects, particularly those choosing further mathematics (this is a double option including A level mathematics).
Each subject is allocated seven x one hour fifteen minutes lessons and one additional lesson of compulsory study per subject per fortnight in Year 13. In addition, students will be required to take part in silent supervised studies in the Sixth Form dining room. There is some flexibility in terms of where these are placed to suit the student and their timetable. Students also must attend one lesson per fortnight of Personal Development.
In addition, an enrichment programme offers students a huge amount of choice. All students must select a minimum of one enrichment (from a vast choice) which they then take part in for one lesson a week (or equivalent). The choices include faculty prefecting, core maths, volunteering in local primary schools and EPQ (to name but a few). More on this can be found in our Enrichment booklet.
Details regarding entry criteria for the Sixth form and the subjects available can be found here.
Extra-Curricular Opportunities
The school offers a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities for all age groups. These can be sub-divided into four areas: Cultural, sporting, international visits, trips.
