Parent Governor Vacancies - Closing Date 24 November 2017
15 Nov 2017
There are two vacancies for parent governors to serve on the Governing Body of this school. We are very keen to encourage parents/carers of registered students to nominate themselves to fill this place.
Parent governors are elected by other parents and are vital to our Governing Body. They share equally with other governors the duty of carrying out the Governing Body’s wide range of responsibilities. Governors do not run the school day to day, as their role is at the strategic or policy making level in the school. You do not have to be an expert on education to be a school governor, and we value the experience that all governors bring to the role.
If you join our Governing Body, you will serve for a four-year term and you can continue to the end of the four years even if your child leaves the school.
Being a governor does require you to dedicate time to the role and there are four Full Governing Body meetings each year, plus one training day. Governors serve on committees which meet once a term; it is possible for a Governor to serve on more than one committee. We also encourage our Governors to visit the different faculties to see how the school operates on a day to day basis.
If you would like to put yourself forward as a candidate, please complete and return the application forms available on the school website (About the School > Governors). These must be completed and returned by 3pm on Friday, 24th November 2017 to firstname.lastname@example.org or handed into A Block reception on Nottingham Road and marked for the attention of Mrs A Cooper
If you have any difficulty with internet access please contact Mrs A Cooper on extension 211 and a pack will be forwarded to you.
If there are more than two nominations the election will be held by a ballot. If that is necessary, voting papers will be sent to all parents together with details of the ballot procedure.
