Dear Year 13 Parents/Carers and Students,
STUDENT FINANCE EVENING - 4 FEBRUARY 2016
After all the 'excitement' and pressure of completing the UCAS application, it is quite normal for both students and parents to suddenly feel a bit anxious.
A big concern that students and parents/carers certainly have is the one of finance. What will it cost, what finance is available, how can it be accessed and how it is to be paid back? Such questions are very much part of entering higher education in 2016.
At our student finance evening, Vanessa Chetwyn from Leicester De Montfort University will explain student finance. This is important as, the sooner students apply for their funding, the more likely it is that their money will be waiting for them at the start of term, making a smoother start to life at university.
Accept or Reject?
Hopefully, students will receive offers of university places and will then be faced with real decisions – to accept or to reject? Some students are unsure of the process and the possible options which are open to them. To address this, we will explain the process of 'what to do now' in an assembly on 24 February where an advisor from a university will join us.
Some information will be advertised on the rolling screen in the Sixth Form Centre. However, for more detailed information, we invite you to attend Vanessa’s presentation which will take place on 4 February 2016 in the school Lecture Theatre, commencing at 7.00pm. I anticipate the session to last approximately 1 hour.
