Student Finance Letter - Year 13 Students
18 Jan 2017
16th January 2017
Dear Year 13 Parents/Carers and Students,
STUDENT FINANCE EVENING – 1 FEBRUARY 2017
After all the 'excitement' and pressure of completing the UCAS application, it is quite normal for both students and parents to suddenly feel a bit anxious.
A big concern that students and parents/carers certainly have is the one of finance. What will it cost, what finance is available, how to access it and how it is to be paid back? Such questions are very much part of entering Higher Education in 2017.
Vanessa Chetwyn from Leicester De Montfort University will explain the whole Student Finance system for wherever students have applied. This is important; the sooner students apply, the more chance the money will be waiting for them at the start of term, ensuring a smoother start to life at university.
Hopefully, offers will be being made and all of a sudden real decisions have to be arrived at – accept or reject? Some students are unsure of the process and the possible options that are open to them. To address this, we will explain the process of 'what to do now in an assembly on 22 March.
Some information will be advertised on the rolling screen in the Sixth Form Centre, however, for more detailed information we invite you to attend Vanessa’s presentation which will take place on 1st February 2017 in the school Lecture Theatre, commencing at 7.00pm. I anticipate the session to last approximately one hour.
