Year 12 - Study Skills and Mock Examinations
17 Nov 2017
As part of the school’s enrichment programme we strive to provide our students with the necessary tools and experiences to help them to be as successful as they can be.
We therefore have arranged for the University of Nottingham to deliver a study skills workshop with all Year 12 students next Thursday (23 November). This comes at an important time of the A level courses, as students become aware of the course requirements and the necessity to keep on top of their studies in the new linear exam system.
Students in houses ABCE will be required to attend the session in the Lecture Theatre period 1 on Thursday and students in houses FGHL will be required to attend period 2. We hope this will be a useful experience for all students.
The students’ first grade collection to show current progress will be available towards the end of this term, before Christmas. This will be shared with you via the MCAS system.
Furthermore, all Year 12 students will take mock examinations in their subjects in the first two weeks when they return after Christmas (Tuesday 9 January until Friday 19 January). These will take place during normal lesson time. These mocks will form the basis of discussions about progress and any exam entries that students wish to make this academic year, especially for those who are currently studying four subjects. If any student intends to leave Ashby School after Year 12, they will also need to be entered for their examinations and should ensure they make the Sixth Form staff aware.
