Year 12 Study Skills Session and Internal Assessment
13 Dec 2018
As part of the school’s enrichment programme, we strive to provide our students with the necessary tools and experiences to make them as successful as they can be.
We have arranged for the University of Nottingham to deliver a study skills workshop with all Year 12 students next term on Monday 21 January 2019. This comes at an important point in the A level process, as students become aware of the course requirements and the necessity to keep on top of their studies in the new linear exam system.
Students in Houses ABCE will be required to attend the session in the Lecture Theatre period 1 and students in Houses FGHL will be required to attend period 2. We hope this will be a useful experience for all students.
The students’ first grade collection to show current progress is now available for you to view via the MCAS system. On the reports, the target grade will be the Alps grade. Alps is the minimum grade students should achieve in a subject. It is calculated nationally by the individual student’s average GCSE score.
Furthermore, all Year 12 students will take internal assessments in their subjects, starting the first week back after Christmas. These will take place during normal lesson time. These assessments will form the basis of discussions about progress.
If any student intends to leave Ashby School after Year 12, they will need to be entered for examinations and should ensure they make the Sixth Form staff aware.
