Amelie's Poster Encourages Others to Seek Help

A poster created by a Sixth Form student to encourage others to seek mental health support if they need it is now being displayed around school.
Amelie Gillespie decided to create separate posters for Year 10, Year 11 and Sixth Form students, after talking to friends about the support available.
Amelie said: "After talking to my friends about mental health concerns, it was clear that not all students knew how to access support. The poster I made details this information and will, hopefully, encourage more students to seek help if they need it.
"I have experience of creating meaningful work, as I take art A-level, in which we are encouraged to create pieces with message and meaning that may benefit others. I also have a strong interest in different forms of creative expression."
Amelie, who also studies chemistry and psychology, said her interest in psychology was a major motivating factor in advocating better mental health support. She is hoping to study psychology at university.
Angela Allen, Sixth Form Year Tutor, said: "It's great that Amelie has designed this ‘student friendly’ poster to encourage other students to reach out for support for themselves and others they are concerned for. Her talent and initiative will hopefully help others to access the support they need."
