Ashby School has landed on Mars!
As the world watched NASA's Perseverance rover land on Mars, a small part of Ashby School was landing with it.
A microchip inside the rover includes the names of Ashby School and Ashby Physics department. The school was issued with its own boarding pass to mark the occasion.
Science technician Vikki Dennis said: "I applied on the NASA website to get the names Ashby Physics and Ashby School on the microchip.
"It's such an exciting project and we feel huge pride that our school name travelled 293 million miles to Mars over seven months and will be there forever!"
The Mars Exploration Program is searching for signs of life on the red planet.
