Mr Cooper is a Local Hero!

Teacher Ed Cooper is officially a local hero, after being nominated for a community hero award.
Mr Cooper, who is Head of Design and Technology, launched an initiative to make and supply PPE to key workers from the start of the coronavirus outbreak. He was supported by a team of teaching colleagues and support staff and has raised more than £4,000 to purchase the materials needed to make face masks, visors and headbands for people working on the front line in GP practices, hospitals and the police force across North West Leicestershire and beyond.
A spokesperson for North West Leicestershire District Council, which invited the local hero nominations, said: "A massive thank you to Ed Cooper and all the staff at Ashby School who have been helping to make and distribute PPE to our key workers.
"Your efforts have not gone unrecognised and this shows in the nominations you have received as a North West Leicestershire local hero."
