Pay At-tent-ion! Camp Site Springs Up on School Lawn
03 Apr 2019
The school's front lawn became a camp site for the night when more than 60 Year 10 students pitched their tents, as part of the training for their forthcoming Duke of Edinburgh expeditions.
Students were practising skills such as navigation and map reading, first aid and cooking. During their overnight stay at Nottingham Road, they cooked a range of foods including pasta, bacon, sausages, beans and rice.
They also used the practice sessions to plan their routes for the real expeditions which take place in May and June,
Teacher Tom Rees said: "It went really well and was a great way for students to practise the skills they will need for the real thing."
