Geographers Head to the Coast
17 Sep 2018
Geography students spent a week at Swanage in Dorset collecting data for their A level assessment.
The 34 students each chose a topic to tie in with the course specification. These ranged from the study of management and erosion on a beach to a closer look at inequality in Swanage and the impact of globalisation.
Head of Geography Carolyn Pearce said: "The students must now analyse and present their data in a format of their choosing which I then submit to the exam board.
"We had a couple of hiccups during the trip but I think they all enjoyed it. We visited the arcades and ran a quiz and took them up to Old Harry, which is a really famous stack."
The project work submitted by the students following their trip to Swanage will count for 20 per cent of their final A level grade.
