Values are at Heart of House Afternoon
12 Oct 2018
Students could choose from more than 40 activities and 10 different sports as a way of challenging themselves on House afternoon.
All students were given an afternoon off their usual timetables to try one of the huge array of activities.
Some chose to test their stamina in a 10k run while others made their own beauty products from scratch or learned to appreciate different musical tastes by listening to other people's vinyl record collections.
The afternoon encourages all students to embrace the core values or creativity, fair play, respect for all and team work.
Many of these qualities were at play around the school's sports facilties, where students took part in netball, football, basketball and table tennis tournaments. It was also a chance to wear the new team bibs generously supplied by KP Foods.
Other students who preferred a physical challenge went off site to play golf or test their strength with a gym workout.
There was also an opportunity for students to use kits supplied by Loughborough University to make bath bombs and build their own jet powered drag cars.
Headteacher Geoff Staniforth said: "House afternoon is always a very worthwhile opportunity for students to sample new activities but more importantly to appreciate the value of working together as part of the school community."
