Physical Education
At Ashby School, PE is an extremely important part of school life.
Vision statement: 'Inspire a generation - we want all students to enjoy, succeed and develop essential life skills within our Physical Education curriculum. We provide a broad range of opportunities to improve students' health and well being and to promote lifelong participation in physical activity.'
The percentage of students participating in at least two hours of high quality PE and school sport each week is significantly above the national average.
Ashby School allows students to choose their own activities for mainstream PE lessons. Options are numerous and, throughout the two years, students can choose from 28 activities.

After school, students can sign up for a wide variety of sports clubs, teams and activities, including basketball, badminton, leadership, rugby, netball, football and table tennis. School teams compete in inter-school and county competitions. Many achieve county and regional success.
There are also opportunities throughout the year for students to represent the school in one-off competitions such as swimming, volleyball, cricket, handball, dodgeball, trampolining, futsal, rounders, golf, hockey and rowing.

We don’t have a specific PE uniform. We ask that all students are fully changed into sporting attire for PE lessons. The purpose of this is to engage all students helping to make them feel comfortable. If students are unable to take part physically, we still require them to change where possible as they will be asked to fulfil other roles during the session.
