Say Yes to NCS
01 Mar 2019
Ashby students are being promised the summer of a lifetime - and the chance to boost their CVs and future prospects, thanks to the National Citizen Service (NCS).
NCS representatives delivered a series of assemblies and workshops to Year 11 students to introduce them to the scheme.
A special 'early bird' rate of £25 is available to Ashby School students who sign up before 8 March.
NCS is a government initiative designed for 16 and 17 year olds. The three-week programme consists of two, four night residential stays and 30 hours in the local community. This summer, there are five different start dates to choose from.
A spokesperson from NCS said: "The scheme helps to build confidence, build friendships and deliver the summer of a life time, all while improving those all important CVs and personal statements. NCS is recognised nationally by employers and UCAS alike."
All Year 11 students have been given a form to be signed by their parents if they wish to take part. These can be returned to the NCS postbox in A block reception. To get the early bird rate of £25, these must be returned by 8 March.
After the early bird date, the scheme costs £50 for three weeks.
