Ashby school is an inclusive 11-18 provision that sits in the heart of our local community and prides ourself on putting students at the heart of all we do.

Our ethos statements echo this, encouraging our students to be ‘Empowered to Learn’ and to believe that ‘Anything is Possible’ through hard work and commitment. Through this ethos, we combine academic aspiration and the opportunities for our students to embrace our core values; to Show Respect, Accept Responsibility and Build Resilience to prepare them for a successful future. We want all our students to have a happy and successful learning experience and the confidence and qualifications to step into successful futures.

Over the February half term, Ashby School took 51 students and 6 staff on a 1-week trip to Folgaria in Italy. There was a mix of Skiers and Snowboarders, ranging from beginners to advanced.

The journey to Folgaria was taken by coach, 28 hours there and 26 hours back, but was definitely worth it. The conditions were great, with both the snow and the weather in their favour, and they spent 5 hours on the slopes each day (for 5 days).
Amazing progress was made throughout the week by all students, and we are happy to report that there were no serious injuries!

The downtime and evening entertainment included ice skating, tubing, a pizza evening and a games night.

All of the students that went on the trip did the school proud with their amazing behaviour. They all demonstrated our values to show respect, to accept responsibility and especially, to build resilience throughout the trip. Students also made new friends and many happy memories of their time in the snow.

To celebrate World Book Day, Ashby School hosted a whole-school Masked Reader event inspired by The Masked Singer. Members of staff were recorded reading a short extract from one of the new World Book Day books, while wearing a mystery mask.

One video was shown at the start of each lesson throughout the day, and students were challenged to identify the teacher behind the mask. With disguises including a unicorn, duck and panda, the activity sparked plenty of discussion and speculation in classrooms.

Masked Reader was a fun way to celebrate reading across the school and encouraged students to engage with books and stories, while putting their detective skills to the test.

The Library also hosted a selection of activities during break and Lunchtime including quizzes, competitions and a Photo Booth.
