Welcome to Ashby School

Ashby is a school with a proud history and a strong position in the local community as an established 11-18 provision and we know that all members of our school community are benefitting from the opportunities this has created.

Ashby School prides itself on putting students at its heart. We want all our students to have a happy and successful learning experience and are committed to ensuring that all students fulfil their academic potential. However, at Ashby, we realise that school success is about more than academic standards and offer our students a range of opportunities to enable them to embrace our core values. These encourage students to show Respect, accept Responsibility and build Resilience to prepare them for a successful future.

Education has faced many challenges over the last few years, all of which have impacted students enormously in many ways. We continue to work hard to ensure that students have the opportunity to embrace their education so that school can be the happy, harmonious and supportive environment in which our students can thrive.

On Friday 4th September, our Year7s took part in our ‘Talk the Talk’ day. @talkthetalkuk is an organisation that focuses on developing key oracy and communication skills for students. Within their CREWs, creating a safe space, students participated in games and activities that encourage teamwork, communication and listening skills in a fun and interactive way.

It is always a great day for CREWs to get to know each other as well as CREW leaders getting to know their students. It links to our E2L curriculum and developing confident communicators.

The workshop itself focused on transition to secondary school. We’re very proud of our Year 7s for the enthusiasm and commitment they showed throughout the day, they showed respect, took responsibility for their work and worked well in teams.
