What is Arbor?

Arbor is our school MIS (Management Information System). It is the central hub for all pupil data and is the main way we communicate with families.

What is the Arbor Portal?

Both parents and pupils can access Arbor via the Parent or Student Portal at the following address login.arbor.sc

This means accessing the Arbor desktop site rather than using an app. Usernames are parent / pupil email addresses. The portals display attendance information, behaviour points, a timetable calendar and all homework assignments. Via the Parent / Pupil Portal, homework attachments can be downloaded and assignments can be marked as submitted. It is not currently possible to download attachments or submit assignments from the Arbor Apps.

Why have we decided to use Arbor to set homework?

Arbor is linked directly to pupil timetables and teachers use it every lesson. We hope that staff, parent and pupil use of only one portal for most school-based communication will ensure important homework reminders aren’t missed.

What are the benefits of using Arbor?

• Arbor displays a daily calendar, attendance and behaviour data and a summary of homework assignments with any relevant deadlines and attachments.
• Arbor is personalised and will help pupils with their daily organisation.
• All homework assignments are accessible from home with links to other online platforms.

How can assignments be submitted?

When pupils open an assignment that can be submitted, they will have the ability to hit the green “mark as submitted” icon. This will ‘tick it off’ the students assignment to-do list and let the teacher know that it is done and ready for collection. If given specific instructions from their teachers, students can upload work directly from the portal (but not app), however the majority of the work will likely be submitted by hand in a traditional sense.

Is there a Parent App?

Yes, the Arbor Parent App is available to download for free from an app store.

Students will have a tutorial session/assembly on how to login and tips on navigation.

What are In-App Messages?

Arbor has a feature where the school can send out short messages directly to your Arbor app inbox. We understand that normal email inboxes can get very full very quickly, so having some messages appear as an Arbor app notification can help with key messages getting lost. With that being said, email communications will still play a part in how we communicate. This is especially true for any longer form of communication or messages that are more important.
