Care and Welfare – Tutor Groups/ Year Team Leaders

Student welfare & wellbeing is of huge importance at Ashby School.

To make sure that all students get the care and support they need, they are each assigned a Crew Leader who is their first point of call with questions or concerns.

Crew Leaders meet their Crews at the start of every day and accompany them to assembly or complete other year-focused activities.  This also create an opportunity for Crew Leaders to monitor the academic and social development of individuals in the group.

Each year group is overseen by a Year Team Leader who helps to monitor the personal welfare, progress and general conduct of students in the school. In Key Stages 4 & 5, Year Team Leaders are supported by Raising Standards Leaders who work to support students to close academic gaps.

Year Team Leaders and other pastoral support staff in Key Stage 3 & 4 are based in Year Rooms which are staffed full time every school day to support with students’ concerns, attendance, rewards and discipline, alongside academic and welfare issues.
