Med Club

Med Club runs every Monday night after school for students interested in a career in medicine or health care.

Special sessions and visiting speakers help students to develop their skills and knowledge, in preparation for their chosen career.

Five students visited Leicester University for a day of medical school interview practice and tips. This was arranged through Brightlinks, which also organises medical school mentors for current Ashby students.

Students from Leicester University returned the visit when they delivered a talk on ‘The Only Way is Ethics’ at Ashby School. This session was relevant to students planning for careers in law, media/ journalism and sociology, as well as the medical profession.

Toxicology expert David Jones was also in school to talk to students about careers in toxicology, and to give an insight into clinical trials and how drugs are licensed in the EU.

Anyone interested in a career in medicine/ health care is welcome to go along to Med Club on Mondays from 3.15 – 4.15pm in A5.

If you missed completing a Flu consent form but would like your child to receive the vaccine, we can still arrange it. Please contact the School Aged Immunisation on tel. 0300 3000 007. We will then email you information about a catch-up session at our Community Clinics.
