Ashby School has one of the largest and most successful Sixth Forms in Leicestershire. The impressive Sixth Form campus currently caters for more than 600 students.
A large majority of our Sixth Formers are students who choose to stay on at the school following their Year 11 studies. However, a growing number of students join us every year from other schools both inside and outside the county. This year, we have welcomed more than 50 students from other schools into Year 12.
To join the Sixth Form, students must obtain a minimum of five GCSEs (or equivalent) grade 4 or above, including at least a grade 4 at GCSE level in mathematics and English language* OR English literature.
* However, students who do not achieve a Grade 4 in English Language will have to attend additional English lessons and will then resit the qualification.
Individual subject requirements are outlined in the Options booklet.
Attendance must be at least 95 per cent.
In 2024, the A level pass rate was 95.3% across a range of A levels and equivalent qualifications with 20.1% achieving A/A* grades. Following their results, students moved onto a wide range of destinations including Russell Group universities (24% of all university applications) as well as other higher education institutions to study a range of subjects, including mathematics, medicine and actor musician. Many students also successfully secured employment or apprenticeship places at organisations including Rolls Royce.
Results like these allow the school to retain its proud tradition of excellence and high achievement at post-16 level.
Ashby School ensures that all students move on successfully, whatever their chosen direction.
The school prides itself on a close working relationship with parents.
