Music Technology Virtual Showcase

Music technology students have not been able to share their work in the usual way this year.

This video showcases some of the songs they have been working on during lockdown, separately from their school work and inspired by their passion for music.

Seven students from Years 11 and 12 have had their work included in this video by music technology teacher Tom Barstow. They are. Ben Bottrill and Megan Jack (both Year 11), Dan Smith, Jack Beniston, Joe Hewit, Cody Moore and Toby Brightman, all Year 12.

Mr Barstow said: “They are all very passionate about creating music and, despite the barriers that Covid has put in their way, they have still got the motivation to work on their own projects. Usually we can showcase students’ work through the various Ashby School concerts but this year we have to find other platforms for students to be able to perform their work.

“The songs on the videos have taken the students hours and hours to write because they want to create the perfect track. This would include painstakingly altering different effects and instruments to get the best sound. I am really proud of all of them for producing some amazing work!”
