This course is challenging and enjoyable but does require consistent hard work. The A Level course is linear and approximately two thirds of content is pure mathematics, one sixth mechanics and one sixth statistics. Pupils will sit three exams at the end of Year 13. Full A level content includes Proof, Algebra and functions, Coordinate Geometry, Sequences and series, Trigonometry, Exponentials and logarithms, Differentiation, Integration, Numerical methods, Vectors, Statistical sampling, Data presentation and interpretation, Probability, Statistical distributions, Statistical hypothesis testing, Quantities and units in mechanics, Kinematics, Forces and Newton’s laws and Moments.

Entry Level Modules

All Year 12 students follow the AQA A level course.

In the Autumn term, you will complete six ‘entry level’ modules. You will be taught these by six different teachers. You start with two teachers and after every four weeks you will move to a new pair of teachers.

The modules are;
Indices and Logarithms
Functions and Trigonometry
Quadratic Methods
Graphs
Statistics 1
Mechanics 1

Development Level Modules

In the Spring and Summer term you will complete 6 “development level” modules. You will do these for 6 weeks before moving on. The modules are;
Exponentials
Calculus
Algebraic Methods
Vectors
Mechanics 2
Functions and Trigonometry 2

Advanced Level Modules

Next year, you will complete eight advanced level modules which will complete the whole A level.
