Are you a former student from our school? We’d love to hear your story and perhaps feature you on our website or invite you to call back to our school and talk about your career pathway. There are lots of ways to do this but have a look at our Employer Area for some ideas and do get in touch at careersevents@ashbyschool.org.uk

The Labour Market

The labour market is changing. Where it was once common for an employee to stay with one employer for their whole working life, it is expected that school age students today will have as many as 10 different jobs in their lifetime. Some of these jobs will not yet exist and other job roles will become less common; therefore, it is important to understand your local area. Leicester and Leicestershire Enterprise Partnership (LLEP) have released two excellent booklets to show what the labour market is like in the local area.

Raise in Participation Age

Parents of current students should be aware that their son/daughter needs to remain in education or training until they are 18 years old. This can be at Ashby School Sixth Form, but can also be at a college, with a training provider or as part of an apprenticeship scheme.
