PSD (Personal and Social Development)

Our school strives to develop well-rounded individuals who will make a positive contribution and Personal and Social Development is a vital aspect of this supporting our students to be engaged and active citizens of the future with the knowledge and skills to keep themselves safe in different aspects of life including online.

The course is designed to embody our school values of respect, responsibility, and resilience, as well as serving as a method of delivery for the statutory RSE requirements, religious education, careers education, citizenship, and spiritual, moral, social and cultural (SMSC) development.

To ensure we are delivering the most appropriate and useful provision for the local context, we regularly consult with families, students, staff, and other stakeholders.

The aim of the course is to support students in developing the knowledge, skills, and attributes they need to keep themselves healthy and safe and prepare for life and work in modern Britain, including resilience, self-esteem, risk management, team working and critical thinking.

PSD is primarily delivered by our PE team in 1 or 2 lessons a fortnight, however, in Year 7 it is incorporated into our E2L provision.
